But I would
not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning
them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as
others which have no hope.
For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again,
even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring
with him. For this we say unto you by the word of
the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto
the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which
are asleep.
For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven
with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and
with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall
rise first: Then we which are alive and remain
shall be caught up together with them in the clouds,
to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever
be with the Lord.
Wherefore
comfort one another with these words.

Thessalonians 4:13-18
Here is one
of Laura's last Sermon Outlines.
After reading, you too will understand why we know
she knew Jesus
and what was really important.

The
following are emails from friends who just wanted
to pay special tribute to Laura and what she meant
to them. More will be added as they come in.
I am sitting here today writing
to you with mixed emotions. Today is February
15, 2001 (I know I am once again 2 weeks late!
SORRY!). This is the day after I was sitting
at home watching TV and then I got the call.
Mrs. Wanda Rust, the Proteen Service Coordinator,
called me to tell me some bad news. I said ok,
expecting to hear that someone was upset with something
I had said, (It happens often!), but I was not prepared
for the news she gave me. She simply said, Little
Laura Bailey was killed this afternoon in a car wreck
on 39 highway (she had just turned 16 a few months
ago).
I do not remember much more
of our conversation. I was in shock! Laura
was one of my favorites, I know you are not suppose
to have them, but the kids who work hard and always
help out are going to be your favorite! Laura
was always willing to help. She worked very
hard in the puppet team every Sunday morning and evening
for children church. She also helped out in
teaching the small children on Sunday nights once
in a while. She did so just last Sunday night.
I am still having a hard time
accepting the fact that she's gone. This is
a very selfish reaction! She is gone, but if
we think about what we are saying, we will realize,
SHE IS GONE! Paul wrote " We
are confident, I say, and willing to be absent from
the body, and to be present with the Lord!"
II Corinthians 5:8. Someone
told me that Dolores, her mother, commented, "Laura
would not what to come back if she could!"
Praise God! She is in
the presences of Jesus! Who would want to come
back here?
We will miss her always and
remember her well ... (I had to stop for a moment
and collect myself)..
We must now turn to the living!
Laura was ready and is at this moment is heaven with
Jesus! What about you??? If your
life suddenly ended, where would you spend eternity?
"And as it is appointed unto men once to die,
but after this the judgment: So Christ was once offered
to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look
for him shall he appear the second time without sin
unto salvation" Hebrews
:27-28.
Laura,
we will miss you until we see ya there!
DON'T PUT
IT OFF!!!!
Today is the day of salvation!

I just
came across the Laura's tribute site, it was wonderful
to see how she touched the lives of others.
As February 14th, 2002 approaches I find myself
thinking about her more and more.
Several
years ago, Laura and I were on a gymnastics team
together. One day at practice, I was injured. As
I lay on the mat, Laura rushed to my side and held
my hand. I remember she let me squeeze her
hand as hard as I needed to in order to get through
the pain. That memory plays in my mind whenever I
think of her.
At
the time, I was not a Christian. Later, after
becoming a Christian, I remembered how Laura lived
for Christ. As I continue my faith
journey, Laura's life continues to have a profound
impact on me.
Remembering
the kindness that she showed me often brings me
to tears. She was a beautiful person, not
just physically, but mentally and spiritually.
Her warm smile and kind heart will stay with me
forever. I take comfort knowing she is with
our Lord.
In
Christ,

Laura
was one of the best friends that I ever had. She always
had a smile on her face even when she wasn't feeling
good. Me and her were like sisters and we fought like
it too, but I just wish I had had the chance to tell
her just how much I love her. She loved everybody,
and if she didn't, she learned how to...she was just
wonderful like that. I can't even begin to imagine
how it's gonna be without her smile to fill the room.
She never looked unhappy, and she always tried to
make everybody else like that too! She is and always
will be loved very much. Please tell everybody that
you love them, even if you think they won't know what
to say; cause then if something happens to them, at
least you know that they knew that they were loved.
I
LOVE YOU LAURA!

I
am deeply sorry about what happened to Laura. As a
friend to her and her family I knew her and loved
her as all people that knew her did. I remember that
Laura could always put a smile on everyone's face.
She loved life and everyone that she knew would always
love to be around her. My mother Phyllis HIck grew
up in the house that Laura lived in. She grew up in
the house in which Laura lived in.
Sincerely,

Laura
was a wonderful person. She could cheer you up when
you were down. She always had that beautiful smile
on her face. Laura was a very loving person. We all
loved her too. She will be missed greatly!

Laura
Bailey was a very sweet, loving and kind young lady.
You don't find those qualities in many people, young
or old these days. She cared about those around her
from the youngest to the oldest. She especially had
a love for children. My children loved her very much
and were always excited to have their parents out
of the house if they new Laura was coming over to
stay with them. She always had a smile on her face.
A very genuine smile, one to show the love of the
Lord in her heart and life. I will never forget the
last time she came to my house. It was in January
and she was so happy and so excited about her new
car. She was very proud of it and we were very happy
for her. I know the Lord needed the very best to join
him in Heaven on Valentine's Day 2001 and he got her.
Our dear sweet Laura.
We
will always love you and look forward to the day you
can show us around heaven.

have sat here and tried to think, just what do I want
to say about Laura. She was such a very special person!!!
In working with Laura in ProTeens as well as the Youth
Choir I saw the joy that she had in her life and how
she just always seemed to be about to bubble over.
She never did anything in slow motion. I have so many
fond memories of times spent with Laura that it's
hard to pick out a favorite. Her beautiful smile and
vibrant personality will never be forgotten. Laura
impacted many more people than she probably ever realized
she had. I feel that this has been shown by lives
that have been saved and even friendships that have
grown closer. Only God can save a person but I believe
that he uses us to carry the gospel out to a lost
and dying world and God used Laura to help accomplish
this task. I just thank God for Laura and the time
that he allowed me to have with her and I look forward
to the day that I can see her again, and I WILL SEE
HER AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
With
all my love,

Laura
was not only a hard worker with Proteens, but also
with the Youth Choir. It still does not seem right
to look up in the choir and not see Laura! She always
had that sweet smile on her face and I never heard
her complain about anything. She loved to sing and
gave the choir her all. When I think of Laura, I also
think of her holding a little child in her arms. She
loved children so much. As we all know Laura had many
friends, and left many memories because of the Christian
life she lived.
We
miss you Laura!!!!

I
didn't know Laura personally but I have visited Branch
Chapel twice and have thoroughly enjoyed the enthusiastic
spirit of the youth group. As I have seen her picture,
read some of her last sermon notes, and read others
talk of her, I know that she was a great tribute to
the Lord's work in her life. Her dedicated work in
ProTeens exemplifies the passion Paul spoke of in
Philippians 1:21, "For me to live is Christ and
to die is gain."

I've
said many times that I couldn't make it through life
without friends, and has this ever put me to the test!
Laura was one of my best friends, like many of the
other people she knew. She always showed love to me
and to everyone that knew her. I remember her as the
one I would work on the puppet team with as 'Saint',
the duet. Between hanging out at her house, at church,
and at other places, we always laughed or cried (from
laughing so hard). I have so many memories of her,
such as going to the movies, and eating at Chick-Fil-A,
and of course working together in puppets on Sundays
at church. We always had so much fun together and
I wont ever forget how many times we talked on the
phone and she wouldn't let me go because she didn't
want me to leave her alone and with no one to talk
to (as a friend).
I love
her like a sister and the day that I was called and
told of the accident, I can still remember myself
falling to the floor and who I was talking to and
even when my Grandfather helped me up off the floor.
It all happened in slow motion, yet it was the twinkling
of an eye. Her family will never really know how much
that she meant to me and never can I really express
how much that I love them as my own, but I do know
one thing. That is, I will see her in Heaven one day
soon.
I
love you always, Laura,
Christopher D. Byrd
My
friendship with this sweet girl is very small, but
I have spoke to her in the hallways of the school
which me and her both went to. I would see her at
our little thing at North Johnston they called a 10
min break, I would stand with Laura and Elizabeth
Dale along with a few others and stand and talk for
the 10 min time frame. Laura would say hey to everyone
and smile that smile that she always has, but as far
as her and I really being close friends we were not
as I was a senior and she was a freshmen. But as she
has gone to heaven to a bright and happy place I still
can remember the few times I saw here and now I wish
our friendship would have been closer than it was.
Laura was a little angel that her smiles know one
could ever forget. To a girl with alot of heart me
along with others all love you so very much.
With
Love,
Jason Wall
