Rev. John
Linward Crocker, Sr., age 79, died Sunday morning in the Veterans
Hospital of Durham. Born April 1, 1931 in Johnston County to the
late John and Sylvia Eason Price Crocker, he was the widower of
Rachel Frances Crocker who died May 17, 2008 and was preceded
in death by a step-son, Jeffery Brian House. Linward retired from
Heilig-Meyers Furniture Store in Selma after 44 years in sales.
He was a member of the Branch Chapel Free Will Baptist Church,
where he taught Sunday school. Linward was a US Army veteran of
the Korean Conflict and was a member of the Selma American Legion.
Over the years Linward had preached at Floods Chapel Church in
Bailey and Bridge View Campground and White Oak Shores Campground
on the coast and he was active in the Johnston County Prison Ministry.

Three grandchildren, Larry Pace, Jr., Joshua Crocker and Jonathan
Crocker;
Four step-grandchildren, Jeremy Peedin, Matthew Peedin, Melissa
Toole and Brittany House
Five great grandchildren, Andrew Pace, Emileigh Pace, Belle Pace,
Olivia Pace and Carson Crocker.
Linward will be missed not
only by his family but by his church family
and many friends who know him and loved him.
