On September
27, 1926 God blessed Hillard and Stella Phillips with their first
child. They named him Jasper Thelbert Phillips.
He was the oldest of 5 boys and 3 girls. After school he helped
his family on the farm. When he was old enough he joined the Army
and served for 23 years. he served
in World War II, Korean War, and Vietnam.
He was the father of 2 adopted daughters, Fanny and Cindy. He
has served at churched where his military career took him. He
served as music leaders, deacons, T.V.Ministry, Sunday School
teacher and as a faithful member. He always found time to sing,
play guitar and Banjo at churches, Rest Homes, and for friends.
He was preceded in death
by his wife Fannie Scott Phillips, his daughter Fanny, his sister
Ruth Pittman and brother Kenneth Phillips.
He was married to Novene Peedin may 19, 1991 and
participated in the rearing of three grandchildren, Chris Gill,
Cynthia Kimbrell, and Adrian Porch. He has 7 grandchildren and
5 great grandchildren.
He accepted Christ as his Savior at the age of
12 and was a humble and loving example of a life dedicated to
Christ.
Thelbert was sick several years before going to
be with God February 15, 2010. Even though his illness he taught
all of us alot about living.
Thelbert will be missed not only by his family
but by his church family and many friends who know him and loved
him.
